The Premier League announced today that it will be awarding Everton’s 10 deducted points to Liverpool.
The unprecedented move rubs further salt in Everton’s wounds, as the hard-earned points are given to their most bitter rivals.
‘We realised pretty quickly you can’t just make points disappear’, Said Richard Blackson, the Premier League’s Cruel and Unusual Punishment Executive.
‘We took them off Everton, which was frankly a great laugh, but our internal award system continually tried to re-allocate them to pointless teams like Crystal Palace, and who wants to see that?’
‘It seemed fitting to give them to Liverpool, they take so many points off of Everton anyway, so what’s the difference?’ He finished with a shrug.
Premier League insiders have indicated the re-allocation may be a not-so-subtle attempt to penalise Manchester City. Despite facing over 100 FFP charges, the reigning champions have yet to receive so much as a slap on the wrist, with Liverpool’s ten-point boost improving the Red’s chances finishing one point behind City once more.
Jurgen Klopp welcomed the news, stating, ‘considering all the VAR decisions that have gone against us, this is justice.’
‘Everyone hates Everton anyway, so it’s great banter’, he finished with a blinding grin.
The decision to bolster a Premier League team’s tally has caused grumblings in the lower divisions. Charlton, who sit 10th in League One, argued the looted points should be distributed more evenly across the Football pyramid, with the Premier League again ‘showing its disdain for smaller clubs.’
Everton are yet to make a statement about the latest development. Sean Dyche is understood, however, to be considering drastic action by going on a hunger strike and eating nothing but gravel for ten days.
