Against the backdrop of the latest Super League drama, Sheffield United and Burnley have issued official club statements rejecting the Premier League.
The division’s bottom two clubs have vowed to play their football in the EFL Championship next season, with Burnley Alan Pace saying, ‘All Premier League bosses care about is money, money, money, and at Burnley, that’s not something we want to be a part of.’
‘Yes, the Premier League offers financial security, better viewership, and a chance to play against the best opposition in the world every week, but when that opposition pumps you each and every week, it kinda takes the fun out of it.’
The Premier League has urged both clubs to do all they can to try and remain in the division, for their sakes and the overall integrity of the competition. However, both clubs insist they want nothing to do with the Premier League and intend to make that known, both on the pitch and off.
